Rebekah is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with on the underground electronic music scene. She has toured every continent throughout her illustrious career performing alongside the likes of Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Adam Beyer, Loco Dice, Dubfire at seminal events and festivals the world over such as Exit Festival in Serbia, Global Gathering in the UK and Awakenings in Rotterdam to name but a few! An avid producer, her
releases have been gaining momentum and have received support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Nic Fanciulli and Anderson Noise and with a string of remixes and releases on the way things don’t look like slowing down!
In the six years that Rebekah has been Djing professionally, she has toured every inch of the globe, performing at some of the most exclusive parties and rocking clubs in the world. On her travels she has DJ’d in countries such as South Africa, Australia, Central America, Brazil, Italy, Russia, Dubai, Hong Kong and Thailand. She has featured live on MTV performing in front of 5,000 people for a party at Jianpula, Malta which was broadcasted to the whole of Europe! She is also no stranger to house music haven Ibiza where she has played on the terrace at Space as well as at El Divino.
Being on the circuit over the last few year’s means that Rebekah has played at some of the coolest nights and venues in the UK. These include regular performances at clubs such as Sankeys in Manchester and Turnmills in London as well as having Shindig, The Egg, the Cross, the Key, Canvas and the Honey Club performances under her belt. Rebekah’s current UK commitments include a residency at popular underground venue; The Custard Factory in Birmingham where she performs regularly alongside world class acts such as Sven Vath, Dubfire, Josh Wink, James Zabiela Steve Lawler, Andrew Weatherall, Eric Prydz, Switch, Paul Woolford, Lottie and Tania Vulcano to name a few.
Rebekah has also become a regular at some of the worlds most recognised and established festivals! Donning her welly’s, Rebekah has performed in front of massive audiences at UK festivals such as Escape into the Park, Wakestock and Global Gathering where she has performed on the Circo Loco stage in 2007, the Cocoon arena in 2008 and MNUS floor in 2009. Further a field, she is a regular at Serbia’s Exit
festival having played on the techno stage for two consecutive years alongside acts such as Martin Landsky and Argy and will be making another appearance in 2010…. Testament to the fact that promoters always rebook Rebekah after seeing her perform live!
One million listeners tuned in to hear one of Rebekah’s biggest achievements to date, a Radio 1 interview on a peak time Saturday evening radio show. After BBC Radio 1 played her tech house, minimal and techno mix live on air it was no surprise when Notion magazine approached Rebekah to do a three page spread on her e of the UK’S hottest up and coming DJ’s. The press interest doesn’t stop there, M8 had their eye on
Rebekah giving her a front cover and interview, pinning her down as a key breakthrough DJ.
February 2008 saw the release of a second solo EP on Criminal Records which contained the tracks Neo and Freakonomics. This E.P gained support from Funk d’Void, Yousef, Greg Vickers, Oliver Koletzki, Anderson Noise and Mistress de Funk who regularly played Neo on her BBC Radio 1 show. Loving the release so much a second airplay of the second track Freakonomics went out for her 2008 Christmas special.
In April 2008, Rebekah was approached by the prestigious Awakenings based in Holland and performed alongside Gaiser, Tony Rohr and Alexi Delano at Factory 10, Rotterdam…. One of her stand out gigs of the year! Rebekah also attended the WMC in 2008 for a consecutive year playing a rooftop terrace party above the Sony Building with Miss Nine; taking her sound of tech house and techno to an almost progressive crowd as well as fitting in a performance at the Back to Basics Miami party with Simon Baker. She was cited by Back to Basics promoter Dave Beer as the stand out DJ from this particular evening! A real compliment from a promoter that knows his onions!
Alongside these Rebekah has played at Qube in Rome and Frau Marleen in Torre del Lago, impressing the owners so much she has been made a bi-monthly resident. She also fitted in an exclusive Fashion TV party in Geneva bringing the underground sounds of minimal and techno to high class models and local socialites!
Halfway through 2009 and there seems no stopping this lady of techno, playing at Fabric in London, the Sound of the Ninth Music tour at the Custard Factory in Birmingham with Sven Vath and Dubfire, Coolhouse in Cardiff, and Egg, Aquarium and 54 in London.
In the next few months Rebekah will be playing Global Gathering in the M_Nus arena alongside Richie Hawtin and Magda, Creamfields in the Czech Republic, Guendalina in Lecce, Italy with Camea and a mini India tour as well as continuing her monthly dates at Lost Souls:Techno Club in London and forthcoming Cocoon parties in Birmingham.
On a chance meeting with fellow techno DJ Chris Finke, a project was put together new for 2009 in the form of an electronic monthly radio show called The Drop featuring mixes by both Chris and Rebekah as well as monthly guest mixers, with Mark Broom and Perc already contributing. This show is produced and presented by them both with a madcap style yet serious about the music, moving away from your average chin stroking presenter. Already a hit with Samurai FM who have now allocated a monthly slot.
On the production side of things Rebekah has completed her Diploma in Creative music producing and is straight out with 3 forthcoming EP’s for June, July and August. The Deluded EP contains two tracks showing Rebekah’s deeper side with subtle minimal and tech house sounds due out first in June on Phobic, with early support from Nic Fanciulli and Smokin Jo. The Malende EP is to follow in July on Mad Hatter, showcasing some
of her best work to date and Zufari Parking, a collaboration with Mont Blanco, due for release on Chris Finke’s techno imprint Flux, out in November. With college now complete, new remixes and tracks are in production with a full time approach to music now in place, Rebekah’s creativity and talent will no doubt be shining through in the foreseeable future.
It goes without saying that the future is bright and diary packed for this lady of techno and minimal and her peers are starting to take note and give her the respect she deserves…. Anyone that has seen her play out live know first hand that there are no gimmicks or clichés about this DJ…. just unadulterated raw talent and a passion for underground house and techno.

2009 The Story So Far
Well what a good five years so far it’s been for our smoggie organisation. Half way through and we have been involved in some of the best parties around the country and the home nest has seen some top DJ's play on the turntables.
So far we have seen DJ's such as: Peace Division, Slam, Tim Sheridan, Matt Tolfrey, Jody Wisternoff, in fact I could be here all day listing the bad boys and girls (Chloe Harris) but I won’t.
Now here we are for another year of riffraff and scrinsey winseyness in our brand new spanking venue The Onyx Rooms.
We have said our teary eyed farewells to the Onion dungeon which was made our home over the years as well as our long goodbye to the infamous pre party bar Pacific. Now here we are in a much bigger venue that will see more madness in the way of the scrinse for the foreseeable future. Already we have capped off two fantastic parties with guests Justin Drake and Scott Bradford and we got high profile DJ’s itching to spin some beats with Matt Tolfrey fronting the queue.
Apart from the home nest flourishing with new life and change our residents have opened their wings and flown to other fantastic parties around the UK and Europe infecting the masses with the highly contagious riffraff bug.
Places of infection have been Ministry Of Sound, Zoo Project, Back 2 Basics, Shindig, Sankeys, Area 51, and Jaunt the list goes on and will continue to grow as the boys will repeatedly visit these clubs over the next year.
As well as dirtying these clubs with their mucky smogness the boys are going to be injecting the airwaves with the riffraff sound when the new riffraff radio show begins in the next couple of months with monthly host Dave Little.
If that’s not enough the record label is now set for a whole new launch with strong tracks from our residents as well as guests like Paul Lorraine, Glen Storey, Virus and Maxi Divine.
Well that’s it for now we hope to see you at our partys and thanks for all your support over the years to get us where we are now and one last word I would like to leave you with for now is “Plop” it’s a nice word and one that I want people to use more in conversation.
Absolute
Our pre parties are now going to be held at Absolute and not Pacific Bar. These parties begin at 9pm and go on until 12am. Here we will feature guest DJ’s that are only just breaking into the underground circuit and causing a stir. Make sure that you get down witnessing these boys and girls as we have proven in the past with Autophase, Bigger than Jesus, Gow, JD Turbine, James Barnsley and many more we find the best up and coming by keeping our ears placed firmly to the underground.
Onyx Rooms
As you probably now know we are nestled in to our new home and its going from strength to strength. Just in case you don’t know here are a few things that I think you should know so by the end of reading this you will know what you need to know and what some people already know so you will be in the know:
1. Onyx is situated above Absolute 2. Doors open at 11pm 3. To enter you must leave Absolute and walk round to the entrance for Onyx 4. Middlesbrough College students must show card to gain discount entry 5. Main guest usually plays at 12:30 AM but this is subject to change 6. Doors close at 4:30 AM but this is subject to change on how wild you are
Production
Well the lads have been busy in the studio over winter. Gow has seen an EP released on high profile German record label Trapez with many more to come. Lee Pennington has had more releases than I can count but one EP signed to White noise recordings has been featured three times in I’DJ magazine. Paul Bowen has completed an EP with Lee Pennington for the riffraff recordings label as well as other tracks in the studio ready for unleashing.
Riffraff Recordings and Matthew Gale
We would like to welcome Matthew Gale to the nest of mayhem who has taken up the position of record label manager. The label has been brought into line and will be seeing some strong releases in the future from our residents as well as artists Glen Storey and Paul Loraine…. There are some very special people lined up too. Anybody with any tracks that they feel fit for the label then forward to any of us. Please check out what music we play first before sending though as we get plenty of music sent through and don’t want any electro garbage, hard house, driving techno, funky house or trance.
2008 News
Well what a year so far its been for the smoggie organisation. Half way through and they have been involved in some of the best parties around the country and the home nest has seen some top DJ's play on the turntables.
So far this year top DJ's such as Chloe Harris, Cass and Mangan, Scott Bradford, Marc Ashken, Perc have played in the Onion to some well up for it crowds and we would like to also thank the many supporting guests that have came down to our pre partys and warmed us up nicely for the shenanigans of the Onion. Not to mention the off it party people that love what we do.
We have also seen the late licence kick in at the Onion meaning we can party harder there for longer. The afterpartys at Pacific bar are now a thing of the past and we would like to thank all the Pacific bars staff and Raymondo for their support over the years and allowing us to be the first monthly 6am club night in Boro. The Pre partys will still be held at the Pacific so you can still take in the beauty of their wonderful smelling toilets.
