Middlesbrough may not sound like the epicentre of the music universe, however in October 2003, with his creation of underground club night *riffraff, Lee Pennington put his two feet firmly on the first rung of the DJ and underground dance music ladder. Launched initially as a one-off party to celebrate his first ever vinyl release on Source Of Gravity Records, it quickly developed into a monthly event that is for those people who appreciate forward thinking underground electronic music.

Evolving from an old progressive sound, Lee created his raw and diverse style of percussive house and techno music that he is now currently known for. Lee's productions can be found on numerous independent labels both under his own name and from his Section 75 and riffraff aliases. October 2009 saw Lee beat off stiff competition to take the top spot in the worldwide Space Ibiza 2020Vision remix competition with his remix of 2020 Sound system's “sliding away”. His track was featured on the Space remix Compilation 2009.

He can regularly be found spinning his hypnotic beats at some of the UK's best underground events Such as Shindig, Sankeys, BackToBasics, and of course his own *riffraff party that he often takes on tour and also the Luna records showcase at Middlesbrough Medicine Bar. Away from the nightclubs Lee is also lecturing students in musical technology, as well as, mastering and engineering for artists and labels around the globe. It has been all of the above achievements that has led the man to being made a firm established resident at the Zoo Project parties in Ibiza playing to crowds of up to 4000 each week as well as touring with them around Europe and even playing main room slots at Privilege the worlds largest nightclub for Saturday night Project.

With *riffraff getting stronger each month and having to turn people away due to capacity and clubbers travelling from all over the UK to see Lee, his residents and guests perform as well as releases on established and respected labels the future looks bright for the man in the flat cap.
