From the northeast of England in a town that since the demise of the local chemical and steel industries has been typically associated with unemployment and crime, the luminescent Philip Stirzaker stands out from the greyscale backdrop.

His early teens where filled with violin, guitar and piano but it was with his discovery of electronic music that Philip found his passion. By the age of 15, Stirzaker had begun collecting and mixing vinyl records. After honing his skills at house parties, Philip started to play around his home town before launching his own monthly party ‘Expression’ in 2007.

After his first exposure to underground house music, his record collection naturally begun to diversify and made his style twist and morph into a more hypnotic sound that Philip had previously struggled to find.

Drawing from influences such as Burnski, Andre Crom, Matthias Tanzmann, Peace Division, Matt Tolfery, Kevin Griffiths, Back to Basics, Shindig and some of the country’s finest afterhours Stirzaker & Expression became well versed in quality and taste.

In 2011, Expression’s doors opened for the final time after 4.5 years of heavily influencing the Middlesbrough House scene. Stirzaker then took up residency at the prestigious UK based party *Riffraff.
Stirzaker’s solid sets of deep, patient house music never fail to make people dance and is tuned into by thousands of house-heads on his monthly FM radio and podcast residency at here Capture FM Stirzaker’s exiting sound has earned him slots with artists such as Burnski, Jimpster, Andre Crom, Loco Dice, Cesar Merveille, Art Department, Bearweasel and MoodyManc.

After studying music technology at university, Stirzaker is no stranger to the studio or production. In 2010 his deep, groovy trademark sound was picked up by several record labels and found support from some of the world’s finest DJs.
